FIRST COMMUNION PREPARATION PROGRAM
Communion is the third of our Initiation Sacraments. The Sacramental Policy of the Archdiocese of Brisbane states “in the year when children turn nine (Year Four), they are welcomed to the Lord’s Table and receive Holy Communion for the first time”.
Children may receive Holy Communion for the first time at any age after this, but they must be baptised and confirmed before they prepare for and receive their First Communion.

First Holy Communion Program
- For children in Year 4 and above who have been baptised and confirmed
- Three workshops and a preparation session attended by both parent/carer and children
Confirmation Program
For children in Year 3 and above who have been baptised
2026 dates to be confirmed and published shortly
Confirmation takes place each year, with preparation for the sacrament beginning in July and the celebration of Confirmation taking place in early September.
Our preparation takes the form of a Parent information evening, which covers the background to the sacrament and some organisational details, followed by four workshops during which we work with the children and parents/carers focusing on developing a better knowledge and understanding of the sacrament and the role it plays in the lives of our children.
Confirmation is celebrated at four separate liturgies, two at each of our churches.
Penance/Reconciliation Program
- For children in Year 5 and above who have been baptised, confirmed and received their First Communion
- Begins with a parent information evening in October
- Two workshops attended by both parents/carers and children
- First Rite of Reconciliation is held early-mid November

- Regis Nursing Home Mass every Second Wednesday of each month.
- Anointing Mass every Third Wednesday (SPC) & First Friday (Mater Dei).
- Reconciliation is on each weekend Saturday at 5:00pm – Mater Dei and Sunday 4:30pm – St Peter Chanel.
- Communion of the Sick at Home and Home Visits available upon request.
- Sacramental Program involving Confirmation, First Communion (Eucharist) and First Reconciliation (Confession) scheduled periodically. Baptismal Preparations every Third Sunday, 3 pm at SPC.
